Umbrella project – Attractive rural areas

The project Attractive Rural Areas targeted associations and organizations that developed sustainable leisure and cultural activities as well as meeting places.

About the project

The project Attractive Rural Areas targeted associations and organizations that developed sustainable leisure and cultural activities as well as meeting places. The purpose was to stimulate new ideas that contributed to a greater variety of activities in rural areas, preferably with a focus on children and youth.

Astrid Lindgren's Home District could grant associations and organizations up to 40,000 kronor for their projects. Those who applied for support could, among other things, receive grants for expenses related to marketing, summer camps, running events, outdoor exhibitions, riding activities, public health-promoting activities, and documentation of cultural heritage, among others.

However, the support could not be used for ongoing operations, already started or completed activities, or for investment costs over 24,000 kronor excluding VAT with a lifespan of more than three years.

Those who were granted leader checks within Attractive Rural Areas were:
▸

Peter Cassels Association

The Peter Cassels Association is an association that aims to highlight and shed light on the large emigration from Sweden to North America during the second half of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, but also today's migration. They have received project support for a new and better website, materials for an outdoor exhibition, and the production of a film for Kisa Emigrant Museum. The purpose of the project was to achieve better marketing of the association's activities and events.
