Grow your own seeds, Hultsfred

Welcome to the lecture at Valhall in Hultsfred

Welcome to a lecture with Eva Ekenberg
Tuesday 15 September at 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, Lecture Hall Balder, Valhall, Hultsfred

Every seed is a small miracle. But what happens when the power over them is concentrated in a few large players and the seed is increasingly imported? What happens to diversity? And what does this mean for Sweden's resilience and food security in an uncertain world and a changing climate? The question of who controls the seed market has long been low-key, but now more and more people are starting to pay attention to our vulnerability. As a seed grower, you can make a difference.

Welcome to a lecture on the basics of seed cultivation, how to avoid unwanted crosses and make the most of the best seeds.

The evening is a collaboration between Virserums Konsthall connected to the work Födoorgel, Herrstorpet Hultsfred, which was inaugurated in April 2026. Exhibitions – Virserum Art Hall

The lecturer is the Cultivation Academy's course leader Eva Ekenberg, a long-time seed grower and member of the Sesam association (society for seed growing and protection of cultivated plants in Sweden).

Feel free to bring any extra seeds. After the lecture, there will be an opportunity to exchange seeds with other participants.

Free admission – but please pre-book your place using the form below. Light refreshments are available for purchase on site.
