preschool in björkfors

Björkfors previously had a municipal preschool, but the operation was closed down in 2018. At the same time, the community has seen a cautious population increase in recent years and a growing interest from people who want to settle in the countryside. For the local associations, the absence of a preschool has become one of the biggest barriers to attracting more young families to the area.

The distance to the nearest preschool is nearly thirty kilometers. For families working in their hometown, drop-off and pick-up can therefore mean over a hundred kilometers of driving in a day. Through the project, the association Växtkraft Björkfors aims to create conditions for preschool activities to once again be available in the locality.

The project's concrete goal is to renovate and adapt premises for a new preschool. The work includes, among other things, reconstruction, fencing around the preschool yard, and some accessibility adjustments. When the premises are ready, the plan is for the Association Valuable Children and Youth, FVBU, to run the preschool activities themselves.

Behind the initiative is a broad local engagement. Växtkraft Björkfors and the Parent Association Björken are working together with other associations and local entrepreneurs. Approximately 1,000 hours of volunteer work are planned within the project, and local resources are also contributing with, among other things, building materials, toys, and access to machinery.

The hope is that the preschool will become more than just an important service for the families already living in Björkfors. Together with, among other things, the planned broadband expansion, the association sees the initiative as a way to strengthen the entire community's attractiveness and create better opportunities for more younger families to settle and stay.
