Gym equipment 65+

Myresjö IF is developing a new gym with a special focus on training for 65+, but open to all ages. The initiative creates new opportunities for training, rehabilitation and community at home for better health and a more active life in the countryside.

About the project

A gym for more people – of all ages

Myresjö IF is now developing a new, fully accessible gym with a special focus on training for the elderly (65+), but with opportunities for all ages and for rehabilitation. The project builds on support from the Inheritance Fund which has made new premises with changing rooms and showers possible – and through this Leader project the gym can now also be equipped with adapted training equipment.

The aim is to create a safe, inclusive and accessible training environment where more people can strengthen their health, reduce the risk of injuries and have the opportunity for a more active and independent life. The training takes place both individually and in groups, with the support of trained instructors, and is aimed especially at people who currently lack the opportunity to use traditional gyms due to accessibility or insecurity.

The gym will be used by Myresjö IF members and local pensioners' associations, and will become a new meeting place across generational boundaries. By offering training at home, the need for travel to nearby urban areas is also reduced, which contributes to a positive environmental effect.

The initiative strengthens both the social community and public health in the Myresjö and Landsbro areas – and gives the sports field increased use all year round.
